STEVEN LEE MYERSA Benchmark of Progress, Electrical Grid Fails Iraqis, August 2, 2010

Iraq's Dark Age: Improvements to Power Grid Remain Elusive.  From the beginning of the war more than seven years ago, the state of electricity has been one of the most closely watched benchmarks of Iraq’s progress, and of the American effort to transform a dictatorship into a democracy.

And yet, as the American combat mission — Operation Iraqi Freedom, in the Pentagon’s argot — officially ends this month, Iraq’s government still struggles to provide one of the most basic services.

Thank you to artist and graphic recorder, Isaac Fortoul, for illustrating today's New York Time's article. We have worked with Isaac as a graphic recorder for the past two years, but I think that he is best known for his artwork. Here is a blurb from his bio but to get a good sense of his work, please visit his website : http://www.fortoulpresents.com

"Isaac Fortoul is one of the exponents of today's underground art scene, emerging from the streets of urban America. He humorously discloses-denounces the absurdity of the routine life imposed upon us by the powers that be and then juxtaposes it with his own view of the sacredness of everything that is. He is a young artist seasoned by years of dedication to the fine arts with a background in graphic art, and illustration. Isaac's unique style is being recognized and his work highly sought out by the art community."
